I’ve been thinking a lot about perspective and time recently. About the people in my life and how much of my time and energy I surrender to them. How do I spend that time, thinking of others, is it in pain or in praise. I’ve come to think that 3% of the day means an awful lot.
1% – If we consider that about 15 minutes is roughly 1% of the day. I have many people in my life I don’t think about even 1% of the day. I may think of them once or twice a month, maybe only when I meet them in passing, giving them a quick “hey, how are ya? let’s meet up sometime.” before moving on my way.
3% – This is roughly 45 minutes of the day. If you work an 8-hour shift with 10 people, this would be like talking to each person for 45 minutes each day. That would be 3% of your day per person, and likely no work getting done. Those you work with closely or share a friendship that goes deeper then work may be in the 3%, chances are maybe one, two or three people.
4% – This is an hour. a lunch break with a friend, a morning coffee and chat about life with a family member.
28% – This is 7 hours, sleeping, resting, healing. Maybe a little longer, maybe shorter for some. It’s important to remember that we surrender our minds to our subconscious when we sleep.
I wonder sometimes if it’s better to have fewer people we think more about or more people we think less about in our lives. Of course, the answer, as always, is balance. Cherish the ones that are worth your time, surrender less to the ones who aren’t.
Remember, if you’re too focused on how you’re going to spend the future’s minutes, it’s already taking you twice as long to get the task done. Once you have a direction, focus on the now and the future will come.
Keep smiling, you’re worth it!
Always Yours
